Assessments: Organizational Readiness for Value-Based Integration
Organizational Assessments are customized to provide information about internal client business practices, including organizational setup, contract language, workflows, communication procedures, personnel involved, culture, and reward systems that predictably affect transition from segregated medical and behavioral service delivery or financial service support to integrated service delivery or service support.
Organizational Assessments are composed of three parts: 1) client completion of a customized data request chronicling activities and work processes related to the area of interest;2) an onsite assessment in which Cartesian Solutions, Inc.™ personnel clarify and expand information received from the data request; and 3) a detailed report indicating current client capabilities, the potential for transformation into an integrated future state, and readiness for change.
“Assessments” are often included as initial activities in Cartesian Solutions, Inc.™ Services when clients wish to know how difficult it will be to move from current business practices to new ones that allow them to achieve population-based desired health and cost goals. It is necessary to understand and change client barriers to successfully deploy a new program, especially when medical and behavioral integration is involved. For instance, in order to deploy ICM at a health plan, it is necessary for all case managers, i.e., those coming from medical and behavioral backgrounds, to receive cross-disciplinary ICM training and that they have full access to medical and behavioral claims information once the integrated ICM program is launched.
